Sustainability

An honest note on where we are.

Sustainability isn't a destination. It's a practice — one we're committed to, and one we're still building. This page is our honest position on what we do well today, what we're working on tomorrow, and what we're not pretending to be.

Durability First

The most sustainable garment is the one you don't replace.

Every piece is engineered to last through dozens of wash cycles, hundreds of wears, and years of use. We test for fabric recovery, seam integrity, and color retention before any piece reaches you. If it doesn't hold up in the studio, it doesn't make the collection.

A piece worn for five years is a meaningful contribution. A piece worn for a single season is the problem.

Materials

We work primarily with technical polyamide and elastane blends — chosen for their durability, recovery, and breathability across cycles of intense use and gentle wear alike.

Where We Stand

  • Every piece is constructed for >50 cycle durability — verified before release.
  • We source from mills that meet OEKO-TEX or equivalent material safety standards where available.
  • We avoid blends that compromise structure or feel — even when they cost less.

Where We're Working

  • Increasing the share of recycled polyamide across our core pieces.
  • Building deeper traceability — knowing not just the mill, but the fiber origin.
  • Reducing virgin synthetic content year over year.

Production

We work with a small number of selected production partners and build long-term relationships with each. This allows us to invest in fit refinement, quality control, and gradual improvements to working conditions — rather than chasing the lowest cost in each season.

We're a small studio. We're not yet at the scale to operate our own factories. What we can do is choose partners deliberately, visit when possible, and pay fairly for the craft.

Packaging

  • Recyclable cardboard mailers — no plastic shipping bags.
  • FSC-certified paper for hangtags, dustbags, and inserts.
  • Minimal branding — fewer printed elements, fewer pieces to discard.
  • No promotional inserts. Every order arrives with only what you need.

What We Don't Claim

We're not carbon neutral. We're not zero-waste. We're not a B-Corp — yet.

We don't believe in claiming what isn't true. We do believe in building toward what should be.

The Long Term

A brand built on intention is a brand built to last. We measure progress in years, not quarters. We add commitments as we earn them. We keep the promises we make.

If you have questions, suggestions, or want to know more about a specific piece — we read every message at hello@watershedwear.com.
